Where are your servers located?

Our Network Data Center is located in Colorado, USA. in a building having multiple redundant OC-48 connections to the Internet. Our connectivity comes from 6 of the largest tier-1 backbones in existence (including GTE, Sprint, Cable & Wireless, Level3 and Williams) to provide a high level of speed and reliability.

The facility itself is a secure, air-conditioned, static electricity controlled environment. All servers are housed in secure racks behind 2 locked doors and full security system. They are protected by surge suppression and power management systems to ensure reliable server operations.

A professional team monitors the network 24/7/365 to ensure smooth and efficient operation of our systems.

How can you be so cheap?

BudgetHostingWeb Sites are designed to fill the gap between free web hosts which display advertising banners on their members' pages, and expensive commercial web hosts which commonly charge US$100 per year or more.

Our sites are very cheap because our systems are fully automated and don't provide some of the expensive "high end features" offered by commercial web hosts, such as shopping carts or databases.

Are there any extra fees or hidden charges with BudgetHostingWeb?

No, the annual fee covers all of your hosting expenses. There are NO setup fees and NO additional or hidden charges. You will not be billed any additional fees unless you choose to add extra features such as extra disk space. Click here to see our full price list.

Are there ads on my site?

No, there are no banners, pop-up advertisements or any other promotions on any sites hosted at BudgetHostingWeb.

Do you accept payment by any means other than credit card?

Yes, we also accept payment by bank wire transfer or direct deposit to our bank account. Please contact our Customer Service Team for instructions if you want to pay by this method.

What documentation will I receive from BudgetHostingWeb after ordering my web site?

To help maintain our low pricing, all documentation from our system is electronic. An email invoice and account instructions will be sent to you by email immediately after placing your order.

I have not received my email invoice. Can you re-send it?

Because the email invoices are auto-generated they cannot be re-sent. However, you can contact our Customer Service Team if you need further information about your account.

Why have I been charged in Australian dollars when you advertise in US dollars?

Although our servers are located in the United States, our Administration is based in Australia so all of our services are billed in Australian dollars. We also list approximate prices in US dollars for the convenience of our international customers. If you place an order with us, your credit card company will convert the hosting fee into your currency automatically.

Can you register my Domain Name?

Yes.  You can register a new domain name (com/net/org/biz/info for 1-year term) for only ~US$5 when you sign up for your hosting account. These domains usually cost up to US$35. Your domain name must be registered as part of a BudgetHostingWeb hosting order to obtain this special offer. It will be registered, managed and renewed by our sister site RegistryWeb.

If you want to register other domain extensions (such as .us, .com.au, .co.uk etc.) click here to register it directly at RegistryWeb and we can then host it for you. However, please note that RegistryWeb is a separate service and is not part of BudgetHostingWeb.

What are the rules for creating a Domain Name?

Domain name scan be up to 67 characters long, including the extension and are not case sensitive. When entering the Domain Name you want, do not include "www" or "http." You should, however, put .com, .net or .org  at the end of the Domain Name.

If your first choice is not available, consider looking up the same name with a slight variation, or a different ending.

Example: yourname.com is not available? Try yourname.net

The only valid characters for a domain name are letters, numbers and a hyphen "-". Other special characters like the underscore "_" or an exclamation mark "!" are not permitted.

Do domains registered through BudgetHostingWeb work exactly the same as Network Solutions?

Yes. There is no difference.

What if the name I want to use is already taken?

It means that someone on the Internet has already secured that name for his or her own site, and that name is probably gone. You may try a slight variation on that name, think up a new one, register the same name with a different domain extension or visit us again to check for another name.

How long should it take to register my domain?

Your domain will be registered immediately once you place your order. 

COM/NET/ORG domains usually take up to 24 hours for new domain information to reach the central WHOIS database, however there are an incredible number of domains being registered every day and it can take up to 3 days for the internet to recognize new domains.

How do I change my domain name if I have misspelled it or registered the wrong name?

Unfortunately, domains can't be changed or cancelled once they are registered and registration fees are not refundable. This is a worldwide policy with all Registrars. This is the reason our order form says "Check the spelling of your domain carefully. Domain names cannot be changed or cancelled after you submit this order!".

How do I set up my Domain Name if I registered it somewhere else?

If you are using an existing domain, you will need to contact your domain registry and change your nameservers to:

  • PRIMARY HOSTNAME:  ns.budgethostingweb.com
  • PRIMARY IP ADDRESS:  207.189.213.157
  • SECONDARY HOSTNAME:  ns2.budgethostingweb.com
  • SECONDARY IP ADDRESS:  207.189.213.158

Can I change the domain name hosted on my account?

Yes. If you have already registered another domain name, you can change the domain name hosted on your account by sending us a request by email. Please include your Username and Invoice Number or Password for security verification. This is a free service.

I have set up my web site. How do I create and publish my pages on the Web at my new address?

Web pages are written in a simple code called HTML. There are many web design software programs available on the market that allow you to design and publish your pages quickly and easily. Two of the most popular ones are Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft FrontPage.

You can also use our free online editors to build your pages. One of these is very simple and can even be used without any knowledge of HTML.

Can I buy extra features?

Yes, you can purchase the following upgrades at any time:

  • Email Forwarding redirects all mail sent to your domain (anything@yourdomain.com) to any other email box you choose, such as your ISP mailbox.
  • POP Mailbox gives you one catch all email POP mailbox for your domain. All mail sent to your domain (anything@yourdomain.com) will be sent to this Mailbox.
  • Extra Disk Space in 10MB increments.
  • Direct FTP Access to your account. You can upload files through your browser or our Public FTP site for free, however you can also add direct access to your account.
  • Host Extra Domains on your account. If you have more than one domain, you can point additional domains at your account

If I order Email Forwarding, what are my email settings?

Our Email Forwarding upgrade redirects all mail sent to your domain (anything@yourdomain.com) to any other email box you choose, such as your ISP mailbox.

If you have ordered this upgrade, there's nothing more you need to do - this will have been set up for you automatically and all email to your domain will be forwarded to the Destination Email Address you have chosen. 

You can change the Destination Email Address at any time by sending us a request by email, including your Domain Name and Invoice Number or Password for security verification.

If I order a POP Mailbox, what are my email settings?

Our POP Mailbox upgrade gives you one catch all email POP mailbox for your domain. All mail sent to your domain (anything@yourdomain.com) will be sent to this Mailbox.

If you have ordered this upgrade, you can log into your Mailbox with any email software such as Outlook, Outlook Express or Eudora. Your SMTP/POP3 mail server is mail.yourdomain.com and your username and password are the same as your hosting account.

Can I order more than one POP Mailbox?

We don’t support multiple mailboxes because we are a low-cost service. All mail sent to your domain (anything@yourdomain.com) will be sent to your catch all email POP mailbox.

Can I run my own CGI scripts?

We can't support custom CGI scripts because we are a low-cost service. The only CGI's that can run on our accounts are the ones that our system makes available to all users:

  • Mail Forms
  • Web Board
  • Guest Book
  • Chat (this is actually java)

How do I renew my account?

Our Automatic Renewal Service automatically renews your BudgetHostingWeb account (including any upgrades) and charges the credit card on file for one additional year of service from the current expiry date. Auto-Renewal ensures that your web site enjoys continued uninterrupted operation without risk of cancellation. We will continue to bill your account on a yearly basis unless you cancel it beforehand.

One month prior to the Account Expiry Date, BudgetHostingWeb will charge the credit card we hold on file for your account. If the credit card is charged successfully, you will receive an email Invoice confirming payment. If the credit card is declined, you will receive an email Renewal Notice requesting payment. We will try to process your card 3 times before your account is cancelled. If your account expires and payment is not received during our "grace" period, it will be deleted. You should click here if you need to update the card held on file for your account.

Please note that we can't renew your domain name. You will need to contact your Domain Registry to renew your domain. If your domain was registered through our sister site RegistryWeb, you can find their Renewal Form here.

How do I change my credit card?

If your account is nearing its renewal date and you want our Automatic Renewal System to use a different credit card, you can click here to update the card we hold on file for your account.

How do I cancel my account?

If you no longer need your BudgetHostingWeb account you should cancel it immediately. You can cancel your account at any time by submitting the form at http://www.budgethostingweb.com/hosting/cancel.shtml.
After submitting the above form, our system will send you a Cancellation Confirmation Notice which can be used to verify that you have successfully cancelled your account.

Cancellation of Service requires 1 month  prior written notice under the terms of our Service Agreement.

Please note that your cancellation request must be received at least 1 month prior to your Account Expiry Date if you don't want to renew your account for another year. Once our Automatic Renewal Service renews your account, renewal fees are NOT REFUNDABLE because we will have already paid our upstream provider for your next year's service.

I can't connect to your secure server.

If you are using a Version 3 or earlier browser, your security certificate has probably expired. This problem is very easy to fix. Click here to go through a 2 minute update process. You will only need to update your certificate once to access most secure servers on the internet.

My site isn't working.

There can be many reasons why a site isn't working, however some of the most common include:

  • Your domain name is newly registered. It can take up to 72 hours for the Internet to recognize new domains.
  • If your domain name was not registered as part of your BudgetHostingWeb order, you must ask your domain registry to change the nameservers for your domain to:
    • PRIMARY HOSTNAME:  ns.budgethostingweb.com
    • PRIMARY IP ADDRESS:  207.189.213.157
    • SECONDARY HOSTNAME:  ns2.budgethostingweb.com
    • SECONDARY IP ADDRESS:  207.189.213.158
  • The Home Page on your site (the page that loads automatically when you visit your domain) must be named either index.html or index.htm. If you name it something else such as homepage.html, the page won't load and you'll see an error message.
  • Your domain name has expired. Please note that we can't renew your domain name. You will need to contact your Domain Registry to renew your domain. If your domain was registered through our sister site RegistryWeb, you can find their Renewal Form here.

My images don't load.

There can be many reasons why your images are not loading, however some of the most common include:

  • Web servers are case sensitive, so the image file picture.gif is not the same as Picture.gif or PICTURE.GIF. This is the most common cause of image problems. For example, if your image is called picture.gif but your HTML calls Picture.gif, the server can't find the file.
  • Spaces in filenames can cause similar problems as above.
  • Incorrect image tags. If the path in your image tags isn't correct, the image won't show. For example:
    <img src="picture.gif"> or 
    <img src="/directory/picture.gif"> or 
    <img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/directory/picture.gif">
  • You are using your temporary URL such as:
    http://www1.budgethostingweb.com/accounts/youraccount/
    to call your images. This temporary URL is only designed to be used during the first 72 hours while the Internet is recognizing your new account. For example, if you are using the image tag:
    <img src="http://www1.budgethostingweb.com/accounts/youraccount/directory/image.gif">
    change it to:
    <img src="/directory/image.gif">
    or
    <img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/directory/image.gif">
    to fix your problem.
  • You are trying to load your images from a remote server outside BudgetHostingWeb. Unfortunately, we are a low-cost service, not a commercial web host, so we are unable to allow members to link to images or files from another server. Our system only allows you to use your images on your own site, not other sites outside BudetHostingWeb. Without this policy, our prices would be significantly higher. Details can be found in the “Remote Loading” section of our Service Agreement.
